Leyla Zana, 1995 Sakharov Prize Lauréat, the first Kurdish woman elected to the Turkish Parliament, and former political prisoner has been sentenced again to 10 years in prison by a Turkish court. Come to discuss what we can do prevent her from being imprisoned again.

New communication technologies and Kurdish language and culture

The three prominent Kurdish intellectuals, Dr. Amir Hassanpour, Hassan Ghazian and Jaffer Sheyholislami will discuss the use of new communication technologies by stateless Kurds in different parts of disputed Kurdistan and in Diaspora communities. They will debate the role of satellite televisions and new media (internet) on constructing and transforming collective identities, language and the culture of Kurds.
