PHD SCHOLARSHIPS IN EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY AT QUEEN MARY, UNIVERSITY OF
LONDON
*The Centre for Research in Equality and Diversity (CRED) Phd
Scholarships* – CRED has _one_ PhD Scholarship available for a highly
qualified and motivated student committed to undertake research in the
field of equality and diversity. We therefore welcome applications for a
PhD scholarship in equality and diversity, a growing area of research
and practice and one where the CRED has made a leading contribution. We
would particularly welcome proposals in the following interrelated and
overlapping fields:

* Studies on gender, ethnicity, religion, sexuality and age in the
workplace, including experiences at work and career development.
* The impact of HRM practices on equality and diversity and
diversity management in different organisational settings, e.g.
multinational corporations, public sector organisations.
* Role of the law in pursuing equality and diversity; the
operationalising of legal principles in the public sector.
* The role of trade unions and community groups in pursuing equality
and diversity; internal democracy and gender and ethnicity; unions
as ‘swords of justice’ in challenging inequalities.
* Comparative research on inequalities in countries at different
stages of development.
* Theoretical approaches to equality and diversity;
intersectionality; structure/agency; gender and inequality
regimes; discrimination; power, resistance, critical discourse
analysis.
Applications for scholarships should be made by *12 February 2010*.
